Nintendo reveal their Christmas marketing campaign
JLS, Terry Wogan and Helen Mirren join in for the fun!
Nintendo adverts over the last few years have been known for using British celebrities to advertise them, from Cheryl Cole to Patrick Stewart. Today, Nintendo announced the lineup for this year’s Christmas marketing campaign, and it contains quite a few British faces.
Possibly the biggest name on the list is Sir Terry Wogan, the TV personality and radio presenter well known for presenting on Radio 1 and for hosting Eurovision. He will be advertising the Brain Training games, a popular series of Nintendo games that, despite being years old, have seen continuous success in the charts. Also advertising is actress Helen Mirren, well known for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen, who will be advertising Wii Fit Plus.
There seems to be an X Factor theme in terms of musical stars. Boyband JLS, who came second two years ago in X Factor, will be advertising Wii Party, with their advert airing tonight at 18:45 during Hollyoaks. Both Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies and New Super Mario Bros will be advertised by controversial Irish duo Jedward, X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke, and X Factor 2009 runner-up Olly Murs, who has recently released a new single. Their adverts will involve discussing these two different games.
Not only will New Super Mario Bros be advertised, but its Wii sibling New Super Mario Bros Wii will also see some airtime, with footballer Jamie Redknapp and wife Louise Redknapp coming back to advertise on behalf of Nintendo. Finally, popular Geordie duo Ant and Dec are also returning to advertise Donkey Kong Country Returns, after advertising a variety of games previously for Nintendo.
