Sonic Anniversary, New Mario and Sonic on the way?
Two more possible upcoming Sonic games; true or false?
According to recent rumours, Sonic fans may be in for a treat as not one, but two games featuring the blue hedgehog may be in development. The following paragraphs are all unconfirmed rumours.
The first of these has been ‘named’ as ‘Sonic Anniversary’. The game is set to have levels from games from the original Sonic game all the way up to Sonic Adventure 2, restored for current gen consoles. The levels would be a mix of 2D and 3D, with Green Hill Zone being named as one of the levels. The rumours state that the game is set to hit PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS in 2011, with no mention of whether the 360 will be getting the game or not.
The second game is a new entry in the Mario and Sonic series. The news about this game is a lot more about speculation: the game may be based around the upcoming 2012 Olympics, and may move away from the gameplay shown in previous Mario and Sonic games. Whether this means a new genre (e.g. platformer) or simply a new way to play, we’ll have to see. Of course, we’ll first have to see if the rumours are true.
